OWENS CHARGES TO 15th
PLACE FINISH IN KENTUCKY
Sparta, Ky. (July
20, 2008) - Alli Owens scored a 15th place
finish in the action packed ARCA RE/MAX Series
Kentucky 150 at Kentucky Speedway. The
19-year-old Daytona Beach, Fla. native started
14th in the 150-mile race and in the end,
matched her career best finish. In May, she
finished 15th at Rockingham Speedway.
“It was a great
day for the entire ElectrifyingCareers.com
team,” said Owens. “We made good adjustments to
the car, gained positions in the pits and fought
super hard on track. It’s what we strive for in
every race.”
The race was
marred by 10 cautions yet Owens managed to
deliver the car to the checkered flag without a
scratch on it. Despite missing all the
accidents, her race was not without incident. On
the start, another competitor was slow to
accelerate forcing Owens to lose more than 15
positions.
“It was a crazy
out there,” said Owens. “Someone missed a shift
or something on the start and it put me in the
back. We had such a strong car and I knew that
if I was patient I’d be able to gain those spots
back.”
Fight back she
did. Throughout the 104 lap race, Owens was
locked in several intense battles but never once
showed signs on letting up.
“We had a lot
of ground to make up and we dug hard,” explained
Owens. “I passed a lot of cars. It was awesome.
I’m happy that we had a good race but I’m not
fully satisfied. I know we had a top 10 car, if
not better.”
The next race
for Owens and the ElectrifyingCareers.com team
is on August 9 at Nashville Superspeedway. |
