OWENS MAKES ROAD RACING
DEBUT
After seven years of competing on ovals, Alli
Owens will make her first road course start in
Sunday’s Loud Energy Drink 150 at the New Jersey
Motorsports Park. Prior to joining the ARCA
RE/MAX Series in 2008, Owens, 20, raced on the
short tracks of Florida and North Carolina. “I
know this race is going to be a lot different
from what I’m used to, but I’m always up for a
challenge,” said Owens. “Our goal is realistic -
to finish on the lead lap. If I don’t abuse my
transmission or brakes and focus on hitting my
marks, I know we can do it.” This race also
marks the first road course event for DGM
Racing, which fields the No. 12
ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet for Owens. “We
are very well prepared for this race,” said team
owner Mario Gosselin. “Our equipment is top
notch and so is our pit crew.” Owens prepared
for this race by completing the Advanced Road
Racing Course at the Bondurant School of High
Performance Driving. Also, in March she tested a
V8 StockCar Road Racing Series car at the
historic Sebring International Raceway.
