OWENS TO MAKE FIRST SHORT
TRACK START IN 2008
The Hantz Group 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race at
Toledo Speedway marks the first short track race
of the 2008 season for Alli Owens. The Daytona
Beach, FL native has much experience on
short tracks but has yet to start on one in the
ARCA RE/MAX Series. Her last short track start
was in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in
2007.
“I’m looking
forward to coming back to my roots,” said Owens.
“Short track racing is where I started and
racing on one always feels like home. It’s
something I’m very familiar with.”
Owens and the
ElectrifyingCareers.com Racing team tested at
Toledo Speedway last month. The one day test
session familiarized Owens with the historic
half-mile oval and also built up her confidence.
“It’s a good
thing we tested because we were way off when we
started,” said Owens. “After making some
changes, we were much faster and more
consistent. Heading into the weekend with a
proven setup gives me a lot of confidence.”
The No. 12
ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet that Owens
will be driving in the Hantz Group 200 is nick
named Garfield. At Rockingham in May, Owens
drove Garfield to a 15th place finish. |
