BLACK CLOUD HANGS OVER
OWENS IN TOLEDO; SHE FINISHES 22nd
Toledo, OH (October 13, 2008) - Sunday's Hantz
Group 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Toledo
Speedway proved to be a challenge for Alli
Owens. The Daytona Beach, FL native encountered
trouble early in the 200 lap race and finished
22nd.
"This weekend
is one that I'd like to forget," said Owens. "We
struggled in qualifying and were looking to make
up for it in the race but nothing seemed to go
our way. It was like we had a black cloud over
us."
Owens started
from the 34th spot but never had a chance to
shine in the race. On lap 21, contact from
another competitor sent her spinning into the
outside wall in turn three. The impact knocked
the rear end out of alignment and it made her
car extremely difficult to drive. To add insult
to injury, Owens' No. 12 ElectrifyingCareers.com
Chevrolet began to overheat.
"After the
wreck, the car handled terribly," said Owens.
"At that point, I knew it was going to be a long
day. To make matters worse, the engine began to
overheat. We had to make numerous pit stops to
cool it down." Despite the disappointment, Owens
has much to be proud of in her rookie season.
"My first
season in ARCA has been a great learning
experience," added Owens. "We've had some ups
and downs but overall it has been very positive.
I couldn't have done it without the support of
Mario and Michelle Gosselin and the entire DGM
Racing team, the over the wall crew supplied by
Richard Childress Racing, my family and of
course my sponsor ElectrifyingCareers.com." |
